MORE INFO

.: Brief Description :.

The Serrated Fucus or Fucus serratus is a brown alga, with its color changing from green to dark brown, from the Fucaceae family. It has serrated
edges that suggest Mother Nature carefully cut its large, flat fronds, making it immediately recognizable.
It is found at a maximum depth of 15 metres, which suggests that at times the species is uncovered and immersed at others depending on the
tide, and therefore needs a solid base to cling to. It finds refuge in rocky areas, adorning them with its jagged beauty. As winter nears, its ends turn
into green receptacles for females and orange for males, bringing additional color to the Iroise Sea's underwater garden.
With its VERY HIGH PHLOROTANNINS CONCENTRATION, the Serrated Fucus demonstrated its ability to PROTECT CELL DNA in a study,
following exposure to an oxidizing agent (O'Sullivan AM, 2013). It is also
rich in TRACE AND MINERAL ELEMENTS, especially magnesium, calcium, manganese, zinc and selenium, enabling it to catalyze a wide range of
biological reactions involved in CELL PROTECTION AND REPAIR.
